I work for a manufacturing company located in St-Anselme Quebec, in 1998 we were chosen to supply the cut floor equipment for the Brandon plant, during construction we would go to the site for regular construction meetings. One day we walked into a construction trailer and were greeted by a man who was by himself, sitting at a table with a half eaten birthday cake in front of him, he invited us to sit down and have a piece of cake, he was Wallace McCain. He took time to talk with us and was interested into our story, we were very impressed by this down to earth and friendly man. The G.E. Leblanc direction and all its employees offer their deepest sympathy to the McCain family.

I join so many others to offer condolences to the family of Wallace McCain.

Mr. McCain was truly an exceptional man. His character was visible to all in the community. It has been a privilege to work for a family-owned business due wholly to the character and integrity of the McCain family.

I know his family will take great comfort in the wonderful memories they have of their husband, father and grandfather.

Scott and Michael

I remember the first time that I met your dad. It was in the mid 70's when we were students at Mount A. I had been invited to spend the weekend as a guest at your place in Florenceville.

Wallace made me feel at home from the outset and took the time from his busy schedule to show me around the plant, to explain his business and to discuss his outlook on life.

Over 30 years later when I last spoke with him, it was as if no time had passed. We picked up the conversation almost where we last left off and I was reminded once again of what an extraordinary person he was.

An inquiring mind, a generous spirit and an abiding interest in the people, the communities and ultimately the world he served; that is how I will remember your dad.

My Deepest Condolences to you, your mom and your families.

Glyn

Dear Margie and Family:
I can't believe he's gone - he had such a huge spirit. He remained true to his roots - for all his enormous success, he stayed so real, and made everyone feel so welcome in his home. I'll miss his fantastic sense of humour, his wit and intelligence, and probing interest in everything. He blessed us all by knowing him. It was a privilege to be able to claim a relationship to him, if only through marriage to my mother's half-sister.
Rest in peace, Wallace. God knows you deserve it. Not many accomplish as much as you did. Love, Jeanne Halet Syms and Gordon Syms and family.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the McCain family at this very difficult time. We are forever grateful for Wallace McCain's vision, achievements, values and commitment. We are certain that Wallace McCain has had a positive impact on the lives of many people he did not know personally; including our own.

I started my career with McCain Foods, Florenceville on Dec 19/69. I met my husband (Sherry Brown) a short time later. Within a few years he was asked by Wallace to move to BC and manage a fresh vegetable plant. Sherry said he didn't know if he could do a big job like that. Wallace said I would not ask you to go if I didn't know you could do the job. All you have to do is show me how well you can do it.
That belief in our ability to adapt to change and move forward was the beginning of many years of rewarding experiences. We went from BC to Australia to Manitoba and finally Calgary.
Wallace provided us with an opportunity we would not otherwise have had; travel living among other cultures, and lifetime friendships.
Thank you Wallace for enhancing my life.
Rest Peacefully,
Barbara Oakes

Dearest Margie and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Wallace's death. What a team you both made-raising a wonderful family, building such an incredible company and so important to me, all the work you both have done on behalf of women and children. He was a down to earth, kind and generous man. What a legacy he leaves behind and I know how proud you all are of his many contributions to our world. My prayers and sympathies are with you all through this sad time,
Deborah Sinclair

I have had the privelage of working with McCain Foods for almost 5 years. I only had the opportunity to meet Wallace on two occasions. Both times, however, were memorable and at each he exemplified the manner, tenaciousness, and values which are so well reflected in the company that he helped build. I left each meeting feeling inspired and proud to work in helping continue his great leagacy.
My best wishes to his family.
He made the world a much richer and better place to the benefit of all.

It was an honour and a privilege to work for Wallace. We saw a lot of the world together over the years. Wallace and Margie always showed a personal interest in our family and because of it we felt part of a much larger family.

Blue skys, Wallace.

In my years in New Brunswick as manager of what was then the New Brunswick Potato Agency, I have had the opportunity to work with the McCain family. Wallace McCain always was friendly and full of good humor when we met. It is with great sadness that I hear of his passing. Our sincere condolances to Margie and the McCain Family.
