Martha and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your father's passing. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time in your life. I have included a poem that was sent to me when my youngest brother was killed almost 21 years ago, and I found great comfort in the words and its meaning. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. - Mary Frye

In my role as Editor and Publisher of Canadian Grocer magazine a few years ago I met Wallace on a number of occasions, notably in 1988 when he and Harrison were awarded the Golden Pencil Award, the highest honor the Canadian food industry can bestow. As the current Consulting Editor of the magazine and on behalf of all at Canadian Grocer I extend our sympathies to Michael and the entire McCain family.

On behalf of Yonge Street Mission, I would like to express heartfelt condolences to Mr. McCain’s family. You have lost a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Mr. McCain was a generous personal supporter of Yonge Street Mission for many years, as well as supporting us through Maple Leaf Foods. We are most grateful for his concern for others and his warm heart that brought joy and hope to many people living in poverty, especially at Christmas time.
To all who knew and loved him, may God bless you with His peace and give you strength in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Rick Tobias
