Mr. McCain would always take time to say hello. He truly was an extraordinary man and he will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family on their loss.

The world has lost a great humanitarian and my wife and I have lost a dear friend. To say that someone is a true "mensch" (a good soul) is the highest of compliments but Wallace was much, much more than this. When in an informal toast I refered to Wallace as rightous he was nonplussed , absolutely speechless and said that he had been call a lot of things in his life but certainly never rightous. But rightous he was for above all else that the innumerable tributes have said about him , there are 20,000 families throughout the world with a roof over their head , food on the table and money to educate their children as a direct result of jobs created for them by Wallace and his brothers .
I was with Wallace when a young man recognizing greatness asked " and Mr. McCain ,what do you do ?" Wallace ,without missing a beat proudly replied
"I grow potatos" .
To Margie, Scott , Michael , Martha and Eleanor a great void has been created ,which hopefully can be partially filled by the wonderful , loving memories which have been capture beautifully on the traditional, annual McCain Family Christmas cards.
God Bless

Having worked a very brief time in the finance and accounting department at McCain headquarters in Florenceville, 85/86, I was fortunate to be given the task of completing the monthly statements for the Feedlot and 2,000 beef cattle. I still talk about the letter Wallace sent me one day after reviewing the statement ( I wished i would have kept it). Lets just say I learned a real valuable lesson and often remember his words.
This past Sunday, Rev. William Hockin gave a sermon on caring for those we love and how important it is. Upon leaving the church, I greeted William and said "passion" is a great word that also goes well with caring and your sermon.
Passion and caring, two words that really describe Wallace, whether it be family, business or in the dressing room.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time and thanks for setting me straight on my ability to "read".

My condolesences to the McCain family. I worked at the Maple Leaf head office for a short time 10 years ago. I remember Wallace as being distinguished and kind. I was quite young at the time and "getting my feet wet" in the corporate world but I will always remember how friendly and approachable he was. My prayers go out to the McCain family and Wallace's colleagues.

I was deeply sadden to hear of your father's passing. Having worked for McCain's in the early 80's covering the Southern New Brunswick territory I had the opportunity to work with your Dad. Those visits played a pivotal part in not only molding my business career but my life's core values. I was always deeply moved that, as powerful and sucessful a business man he was, his true love and interest in people was never lost. As soon as his plane would land in Saint John it was evident. He would always speak to the commissionairs at the airport and knew them by name. It was not uncommon that the first stop on our visits was to an older woman who used to babysit you guys as a kid. A lot of water has passed under the bridge but the values your father passed on to me in those short visits have not been forgotten. He was a great businessman but he was a greater person. He will be missed.

Wallace, and his wife Margaret, have been wonderful and steadfast supporters of Mount Allison University, giving of their time, talents and treasure. When I first went to Mt A, Wallace was straight forward and direct about the challenges that faced the university. His salty language was mixed with charm and friendliness, and an infectious laugh and sense of devilment. I respected him greatly. Carla and I have been saddened by his death, and send our condolences to Margie, Michael, Scott, Martha and Eleanor. Wallace was a great man, and our hearts and thoughts are with you as you grieve his loss.
